The Ryan's Sneak Peak Part 2

Sophie, The Ryan's #2

Jonathan and Sophie's Story

As promised last Sunday, today's sneak peak is into Jonathan's heart and mind, or should I say crotch, when it comes to Sophie. Having known her since she was six, running after him and her older brother Declan in pigtails no less, it's easy to understand why it took him some time to really see her. But when he does, let me say, he does it with a bang!

So read on for the next morsel from my characters lives and minds, as Jonathan opens his eyes, and his very growly mouth, about Sophie for the first time....

Chapter 1

Fifteen Years Earlier

“Seriously, Dec,” looking between him, Luke and Rick, my other two friends who were all like brothers to me, I did my best to keep the frustration out of my voice. Seeing the smirks on Luke and Rick’s faces irritated the crap outta me. But Declan’s shrewdly intense stare made me stand up straighter and look right in his eyes. “Soph needs to quit it. Like yesterday. Everyone’s fuckin’ starin’, and you know it.”

“It’s a Varsity Football rally, Jon. She’s co-captain of Varsity Cheer, performing with her squad. What’d you expect?” Dec’s calm and rational response pissed me off even fuckin’ more. He was her brother, for God’s sake. Why was I the only one that felt it necessary to point this shit out?

Didn’t she know that no real man wanted any other guy lookin’ at what was his? Wishing, or even thinkin’, they could touch it, possess it, keep it?

Christ, what the hell was I even thinkin’? This was my best friend’s little sister, not some piece o’ tail I was allowed to drool over. Watching her jumping, hopping and twitching her ass with the rest of the cheerleading squad in our high school gym was fuckin’ torture.

And I’d known Sophie Margret Ryan since she was six years old and running around trying to catch frogs with the four of us, or getting frustrated with her mom Fiona when she would try and force her to wear dresses or pigtails. The only time she didn’t bitch, in all the years I’d known her, was when she had to be presentable for singing in the church choir.

The Good Lord had definitely blessed Soph. With her mother’s sweet fae-like features and the beginnings of a seriously buxom figure at barely sixteen, the Ryan family dark hair and gray eyes, He’d gone over the top proving He leaned towards blessing His children so they would continue to shine His light on the earth by giving her the voice of an angel. When she sang, you felt like you were in the presence of the Almighty. No joke.

Which was why the very carnal thoughts I was having about Sophie Ryan were pretty much blasphemous. Not to mention the fact that both Declan and their Pop, Darrin, would kick my ever lovin’ ass for even lookin’ twice at their precious little princess.

“Well, I sure as fuck didn’t expect to see Sophie flashin’ her tits and ass for the whole school to see.”

Jesus, did that seriously just come out of my mouth? I wouldn’t blame Dec, or even Luke or Rick if any of them laid me out flat for that remark.

But the only reaction that really meant shit to me was Declan’s. Looking at Sophie, now, today, for some fuckin’ reason, I knew, just fuckin’ knew, that she was mine. It was like I’d never seen her before, like I was seeing her for the first time. And she was it for me.

Focusing back on Declan, I noticed his reaction was more humor than anger.

“Yeah, I’ll make sure to let Ma know she needs to tell Soph to stop jumpin’ and dancin’ when she’s cheerleadin’, for Christ sake.” Declan shook his head and chuckled, looking at me knowingly.

“You do that, Dec,” I grumbled.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read the next in line of my Sneak Peak's, this one my WIP, Sophie. It's so incredibly and droolingly obvious that Jonathan is a young badass alpha in the makin'. And he's finally opened his eyes and drank in the sight of the one woman who will complete him.

And next week, I'll be sharing a little peak into the impenetrable Sophie's thoughts. She's not quite the cold hardass she comes off as in Declan's story. Remember, she lost the love of her life and raised their child, the only thing she had left of him, on her own for twelve years.

So stay tuned as every Sunday over the remaining two weeks, I'll be sharing another snippet from my two upcoming books in The Ryan's Series. You've already seen one from Lucy, now one from Jonathan, so you'll hear from Sophie and the elusive, brooding and sexy Jason!

I know you're all salivating wondering about him. I'll give you two little previews.... He's one of the survivors from Jonathan's Ranger team and he's absolutely lush...

And don't forget to grab your copy of Declan at your favorite retailer, and follow me on Twitter, Facebook, Goodreads and my website so you don't miss the upcoming release dates for Sophie and Survival!!

The Ryan's Sneak Peak Part 1

Survival, The Ryan's Book #3

 Jason and Lucy's Story

As time goes on, I'm sure you're all wondering what the hell is taking me so long in releasing Book 2, Jonathan and Sophie's story. Let alone why I'm offering a snippet from Jason & Lucy's!?

I know, but unfortunately, that's just the way my totally twisted mind works. As characters are introduced in one story, I'll get what I call a feel for them, and then in one of my signature middle of a shower, or hands covered in soap from washing the dishes, or my favorite, at work and 'legally' unable to type it up in Word, crazy brain storms, I'll see their entire history and maybe the person who will ultimately fulfill them. So I've gotten almost 3/4 of the way through Book 2, and about 1/4 through Book 3.

But in the hope of giving you hope as my reader, know that a lot of the character development and plot line twists will, in little bits, assist the other book. It also means that Survival will be released not too long after Sophie. Which is always awesome for readers!! And never fear, each of the lovers will have their beautiful, sweet and sexy happy endings!!

Which is why I decided to do a four week Sneak Peek into the amazing Ryan's, and their two upcoming books. So to conclude, please grab a tissue, or two, and get ready to be introduced to Lucy. Her story has a heart wrenching beginning, but rest assured, Jason will be coming along to bring her the love, safety and beautiful ending that Lucy and her loved ones deserve.....

Prologue

Time To Go

Opening my eyes, I realized it was late. Later than it should have been. Later than I wanted it to be. Later, almost, than I was allowed to stay. According to the courts, I was supposed to leave by midnight.

Tilting my head slightly to the right, and doing my best not to disturb the precious dark haired little bundle tucked deep and snuggled in my arms, my eyes shifted to the nature sounds alarm clock that I purchased for my babies to help them have peaceful dreams as they slept.

The time said three minutes till midnight. Involuntarily, my body jerked as I took a deep breath in, held it, and slowly released it. My throat was tight, nose tingling, and I could feel the pressure building behind my eyes signaling the tears about to let loose.

It was time to go.

Moving my eyes to the tiny white blond head peeking out of the mess of blankets and stuffed animals across the small expanse separating the two twin beds, my vision blurred again, as the tears that had been threatening finally pooled in my eyes, spilling over the bridge of my nose and collecting in the curve of my ear, soaking the dark blue pillow case under my head.

Yeah. Absolutely, definitely, time to go.

Slowly, gently, I inched my arm out from under my youngest sons head, quietly deep breathing to hold back the sobs as I did so. Succeeding in this delicate task, I rolled up and over his still sleeping form and softly put my sock covered feet to the floor. Twisting back around, I adjusted the white downy comforter imprinted in primary colors of red, blue, green and yellow with boats, planes, trains, trucks and cars, tucking it around his shoulders and under his chin. Wishing I could see, just once more, that dimple in his right cheek, the one that melted my heart every time he gifted me with his adorable smile. Leaning down, I placed a gentle, barely there kiss to his downy soft, baby powder smelling, sweet little chubby cheek.

“To the moon and back, and infinity and beyond, my precious snugglebug.” My breath hitched, and I stood up immediately, not wanting to wake him, even though I knew he slept like the dead.

Turning around, I took one step. Two. Then dropped to my knees and my hands flew up and covered my mouth as a sob wrenched up my throat. I closed my eyes tight, took a deep breath through my nose, held it, and released it on a trembling breath from my mouth. It came out like a puffed out shudder.

Every night, we had a routine. Snuggling with one of my babies, first one then the other, letting them pick their favorite, for that day at least, “Baby Story” (even though they were only five and three, still babies in any Mommies eyes), I would animatedly relate it, they would both giggle their way through my story telling, I’d switch places, tell the next “favorite”, then smile for the next ten minutes as my beautiful boys laughed and shared even more stories back and forth with each other. Trying to best the other for the funniest retelling, looking at me to make sure I’d laughed. Each story always including one or the other or both of my babies, and me. Or, sometimes, just about Mommy. ‘Cause I had the worst luck of anyone, ever, and that translated to some seriously hilarious stories.

Forcing the tears back, I dropped my arms, clenching my fists at my sides for a minute, again taking a deep breath. A tool I learned from one of our many marriage counselors. Finally, opening my eyes, spying my oldest sons white blond hair, so similar to mine, those incredibly long lashes sweetly curling on his still chubby cheeks even at five years old, and I was spurred into movement.

Another shuddering breath, and I inched forward on my knees till my hips hit the wooden edge of his twin bed. Reaching up my left hand, I smoothed the silky locks that had fallen over his perfectly arched eyebrows, a reluctant grin forcefully edging one side of my mouth when it flopped right back to its original spot. As my eyes started to blur, I realized that my remaining three minutes had most definitely passed.

He would be at the boys’ bedroom door shortly.

To make sure I left.

So quickly, before I lost my chance for what I believed to be a heartbreaking eternity, I leaned down and brushed my lips against my oldest son’s sweet and perfectly rounded ear.

“To the moon and back, and infinity and beyond. My beautiful boy.” The hitching sob that escaped my throat almost, but not quite, covered the sound of the bedroom door opening.

“Mommy?” My oldest sons sleepy sweet voice drifted up from the bed below me as I whipped my head to the side, slightly blinded by the bright lights of the living room shining behind the dark figure standing tall and forbidding in the doorway.

“Time to go.” Even though his voice was quite, always it was fucking quiet, there was something there, that was always there, a note that resonated in me, deep inside, in a place that was so vulnerable I had no idea how to stop it from ripping apart the very foundation that held me together, every single time I heard it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my WIP, Survival. As you can see, Lucy has experienced some seemingly soul destroying times. But so has Jason. And somehow, they will find a way past their fear and doubt, to passion, love and most importantly, trust.

So stay tuned as every Sunday over the next three weeks, I'll be sharing another snippet from my upcoming books. You'll get one from Sophie, one from Jonathan and one from the elusive, brooding and sexy Jason!
